SIGN

In the Sign project, I explore the archaic human need to seek confirmation from external forces, to trust in signs, coincidences, and chance occurrences. The work examines how, in moments of uncertainty, contemporary individuals continue to turn to symbolic systems—whether nature, fate, or some higher intelligence—in search of reassurance and affirmation of their chosen path.

The word Sign, inscribed on asphalt, remains invisible until the first drops of rain begin to fall — a moment when the city loses its sharpness, the air grows heavy with moisture, and one, immersed in thought, feels an acute need for support. The text appears only in rainy weather, transforming from mere lettering into a response — unexpected yet longed for — a sign that emerges precisely when it is most needed. This gesture echoes ancient traditions of interpreting natural phenomena yet is embedded within an urban context where the search for meaning takes on new forms. In a world where loneliness has become an existential constant, Sign becomes a delicate dialogue between the internal and external, the personal and the collective.

The project speaks to the fundamental human longing for connection—with the world, with oneself, with something greater than can be rationally explained. The work oscillates between the visible and the hidden, the accidental and the predetermined, the rational and the mystical. The moment Sign is revealed marks the intersection of seeking and receiving, of doubt and affirmation.

The optical performance Sign was first realized in Podgorica in 2025. In the future, the project is planned to expand to different countries, accompanied by documentation and material collection. Thus, Sign becomes a dialogue through time. The project can be presented in the form of video art, photographic documentation, or an installation.
